We acknowledge that the Truro Pride: Pride Week takes place in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship with Mi’kmaq Peoples. We are all Treaty people.
Truro Pride would also like to recognize the historic communities of African descent in the this region. Their histories, and culture are a key part of this region. For generations people belonging to these communities of African descent have experienced racism and inequities that are still present today. We will continue to listen to the Black communities and work together to amplify marginalized voices.
